My name is Breanna Blick and I hope to share with you my journey Miss Teen Australia International 2017. I won this pageant in November and will be heading to Florida in July 2017.
My mission is to promote bowel cancer awareness in Australia and Internationally, in addition to this my goal is to raise 20,000 for Bowel Cancer Australia who is also in an international alliance named Bowel Cancer International, together leading in the global fight against the disease.
This charity is a significant part of my life and I feel deeply connected as my dad was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in 2003 when I was 4 years old.
He battled hard but heartbreakingly lost his life on Fathers Day 2006. During his life my Dad was an active Surf Lifesaver and Boat Rower for Nobbys SLSC.
My Dad took my sister and I to Nippers every Sunday that his illness would allow and because of this I developed my passion for SLS, I continue to be an Active Lifesaver at Nobbys SLSC.
When I heard that Cupid’s Undie Run was coming to Nobbys SLSC, I jumped at the opportunity to become an ambassador for this amazing event. I am honoured to be able to promote awareness of Neurofibromatosis (NF) within the Newcastle community. Knowing firsthand the impact that illness can have on families, I wish to do my bit to support families affected by NF.
If my Dad was here today, I know he would be standing proudly next to me in his patrol uniform, and I am doing this in his honor.
I am on this journey for my dad, Wayne Blick.
